Festival of World Cultures in Dublin

Place: Dublin, Ireland

Date: 24 August 2007

The Festival of World Cultures is an annual international arts and culture festival celebrating the diversity of artistic traditions from all over the world. This year the festival was held at August 24-26.

The Festival focuses on innovative and developing artistic practice. The Festival brings performances and activities directly to many who would normally be unable to encounter international arts practices and opens up new and alternative experiences to many who would not normally seek them.

Responding to the changing demographic of Ireland , the Festival aims to enhance artistic expression and integration for Ireland 's newer communities by providing a platform for intercultural creative exchange.

The Festival challenges preconceptions, expanding the arts experience of both national and non-Irish-national audiences, broadening perceptions of international artistic culture.

At the Festival Guli-Bonu Producer Centre presented three groups - Uzbekistan together with the Producer Center Babble-check at Festival of World Cultures represented three groups – instrumental ensemble of Uzbek "Shod", vocal – choreographic ensemble "Lyazgi" and solo-vocalist Karen Gafurdjanov with its band. Next day Karen Gafurdajnov and his band had the second concert at the main open-air stage. As usual Karen presented ethno-pop style, and the songs made the great impression up to the people interested in the synthesis of Orient melodies and modern rhythms.

Also Uzbek delegation took part at the "Global Village" fair, which was organized in the frames of Festival of World Cultures, where were exhibited crafts, applied art and cuisine of more than 70 countries.
