Shaakhmedov Shorasul - papier-macheManufacture of papier-mache and lacquer painting flourished in Samarkand in the early XV century. There are suggestions that from Samarkand in the XV century it ruled to India for nearly 200-300 years. Items of papier-mache are: pencil cases of various sizes, expensive book bindings, chess, all kinds of boxes, vases and other small items covered miniature floral pattern. Papier-Mache is highly stylized, modern and appealing by using real gold and silver paint and by adding intricate decorations.
Shaahmedov Shorasul – papier-mache painter. Was born in Tashkent , 1970. In 1990 he graduated from Republican Art College named after BENKOV and began his independent creative researches. Currently Shorasul is one of the leading craftsmen of lacquer miniatures. He has his studio in Abul Kasym Madrasah*, a member of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan.
