Shaakhmedov Shorasul - papier-mache

Manufacture of papier-mache and lacquer painting flourished in Samarkand in the early XV century. There are suggestions that from Samarkand in the XV century it ruled to India for nearly 200-300 years.

Items of papier-mache are: pencil cases of various sizes, expensive book bindings, chess, all kinds of boxes, vases and other small items covered miniature floral pattern. Papier-Mache is highly stylized, modern and appealing by using real gold and silver paint and by adding intricate decorations.
