Karen Gafurjanov

Karen Gafurdjanov was born in 1975, September 15.

In 1993 his music career founding the popular pop quartet “Anor” (Granadine). In 1999 Karen has started his solo project.

Karen Gafurdjanov performs ethno-pop music, synthesis of Orient music and West sounds.

Karen composes music, writes lyrics, sings and plays numerous instruments: solo-guitar, bass guitar, keyboard, percussion, doira and rubob. His songs are multilingual: Uzbek, English, Russian and Georgian.

He released four albums:

• “Toshkentda Anor bor!” (There’s Granadine in Tashkent) – 1998
• “Senga-Senga” (“To You”) – 2000
• “Anor, to be continued …” – 2002
• “Sensiz Ne Hayot” (“There is No Life Without You”)  - 2005
  

Karen Gafurdjanov and Guli-Bonu producer center are permanent participants in many great events of the music world. For the last three years they took part in such World music festivals as MIDEM, Rhythms of the World, WOMEX and etc., collaborate with  such music companies as Unlimited Classics (Germany), IRL (the USA, California) and others, CLUBSTAR GmbH & Co KG (Germany) produced “Asian Garden1” and “Asian Garden2” albums were included Karen’s songs.

In 2004 he kept successful concert-presentations of his new solo album in the USA, Great Britain, Germany, France, Belgium and towns of Uzbekistan.

Karen also interested in social activity. Science 2004 he is a person of UNISEF, participant of the program dedicated to the fight against the HIV. Also Karen took part at concerts organized by the KAMALOT youth organization.

AWARDS
As the leader of “Anor” group Karen was awarded:

• “NIHOL” by Uzbek President Foundation – 2002
• “HUMO” in the nomination of the best group in Uzbekistan – 2002
• EMI Uzbekistan nomination – in the nomination of the most popular group of the year -2002
• “UZBEGIM TARONASI” RADIO AWARD – in the nomination of the best male group – 2001
• 2nd place in “UZBEKISTAN KUSHIK BAYRAMI” (“Uzbekistan Song Fiesta”) contest – 1999
• 3rd place in “YANGI TARONALAR” (“New stars”) contest – 1998
